Volkswagen is considering developing a body-on-frame SUV based on the Amarok pickup. A few years ago, the company built a seven-seat prototype but shelved it due to weak sales forecasts. Now the project may be revived alongside the development of the next-generation Amarok. Potential competitors include the Ford Everest and Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.
